The mount (or full mount) is one of BJJ's most dominant positions. The top player sits astride the opponent's torso — hips on chest, knees on the ground — controlling them entirely with body weight. The bottom player cannot generate significant force or leverage, while the top player threatens chokes, arm locks, and strikes. In MMA, the mount is decisive. In BJJ, it scores four points and allows access to high-percentage submissions. Learning to hold mount and escape from mount are both fundamental white belt skills.
